Today, John and I had Stake Conference. It was great! The talks were amazing.
It was kind of a treasure today to be going to a BYUI married ward and stake. Usually I am not really for going to an all-married ward because this means no older wise people to learn from during Sunday school and little to no kids in primary. So no diversity; everyone is either just married or have been married under four-five years. So our ages also range from 18-28 maybe. I really like family wards but John and I decided when we move to this apartment that it would be better to stay in a married ward. Well I have found something that I enjoyed but a BYUI Married ward today!
This stake conference was all centered around married couples! It was fanatastic. Finally some advice that completely applies to us as young married kids in college!
One of my favorite talks compared a marriage to an eight cylinder car. When we aren't taking care of it and trying to fine tune things, the car will misfire.
He then went into how we need family counsel so that both spouse is on the same page on certain subjects while also being able to share feelings and cares. We need to make sure the needs of our spouse come before anything and as we seek focus on others such as our spouse, our own personal problems will become solved.
Family counsel not only soothes hurt feelings, but it helps in the combat against outside forces and helps to teach each other and later our children. We need to get closer to The Lord and follow his teachings, as we do this our family will get stronger and closer.
Side note: I woke up yesterday morning and had lost two more pounds!! Yay me!! For a total of six pounds lost!!
