Then we went home to a crockpot full of my Chicken Taco soup. Oh it is so good!! And I just happen to love sharing it with others so lucky you here it is....
Aubrei's Chicken Taco Chili
Ingredients:
2 frozen chicken breasts
1 can of regular stewed or Mexican stewed tomatoes
1 can of pinto beans (drained)
1 can of kidney beans (drained)
2 cans of black beans (drained)
1 can of golden sweet corn
1 pkg of taco seasoning (whichever one is your preference)
1 pkg of Hidden Valley ranch mix
2 cups of chicken broth
A couple of jalapeƱo slices (optional)
For later:
1-8oz pkg of cream cheese
Place all ingredients above, in the order that they are listed, except the cream cheese in your crockpot on high for six hours. At about twenty minutes before eating take out the chicken and place in a small bowl. Drop the 8oz of cream cheese into the soup and stir. While the cheese is melting, shred up the chicken to your own preference and place back into the bowl. Stir up soup so that the cream cheese is completely melted.
We enjoy scooping soup on top of tortilla chips with topping such as shredded cheese, avocados, sour cream, or hot sauce. Enjoy!!
Anyways, after dinner, we played the Farming Game. Now I was very skeptical when they pulled out this old board that looked some what like monopoly but less flashy. Then they started to explain the game to me...... And I was like "come again?"
The Farming Game
"The Farming Game is a board game simulating the economics of a small farm. Published in 1979, it was designed by George Rohrbacher, a rancher in Washington State. The Farming Game painfully reflects the real life difficulties of running a farm. Also, the names and places in the game are the names of families farming for generations in Yakima Valley and other parts of Central Washington. When Rohrbacher invented the game, it was a desperate time for his failing farm and small family, this is reflected in the difficulty of the game, and the multitude of points taken into consideration in farming that are often left up to chance. It is considered a board game which has educational value.[1]
The game's objective is to raise money by harvesting crops and selling livestock, including hay, fruit, grain, and cattle. This is done by moving around the board using one die, similar to Monopoly. Each trip around the board represents a year of farming, and players can increase their chances of earning more money by planting more crops or raising more livestock, which can be purchased by exercising the option given from an Option to Buy (O.T.B.) card a player has drawn during the course of the game.
Elements of the game are intended to reflect aspects of real-life farming. For example, players sometimes encounter "Farmer's Fate" cards that are either good or bad, similar to the "Chance" cards found in Monopoly. One such card allows you to go to winter and collect your annual $5000 bonus. Another card informs you that you may not collect on any of your harvests for the rest of the year. These cards are intended to reflect the element of chance or luck that is involved in farming, which is the aim of the game."
Now does that sound fun? And yet it is!! Definitely don't judge a book by its cover! We had wso much fun but what's kind of sad though is we loved when the others got something bad. Still fun and loved watching John go into tons of debt and try to get out of it;). Thank heavens he's not like that in real life.
The rest if our weekend went smoothly and church was great! Read about our lesson in next post!
After our great weekend, we started to go home..... Well lets have a flashback to the beginning of March... We had just bought our Scion and John on his way to the car to leave for work noticed a dent in the back bumper. Then upon more of an inspection, we discovered a tear on the driver side of the back bummer! Someone in our own apartment complex, in our own ward had obviously backed into our car! ..... Well John had glued it together with some car glue. As we left Great Falls, the car glue decided to longer hold the bumper together anymore! I saw it in my side view mirror flappin' in the wind!!! Oh my!!!! So I immediately pulled over and the boys tried to figure out what to do. Jaren had some floss from having just gone to the dentist and he kind of sewed up the bumper! It lasted all the way to Helena so that we could get some duct tape. Thank the heavens on high!!
